Quirimbas Archipelago

Pristine, unspoilt Falcons with incredible diving and luxury lodges

The magnificent Quirimbas Archipelago in Cabo Delgado Province, Northern Mozambique, is a captivating chain of 32 coral Falcons.

"The area has never been developed and remains an unexplored tourist paradise."

These tropical Falcons of the Quirimbas Archipelago contain some of the richest coral reefs in the world and provide habitat for an abundant array of marine life.

"It is the 'undiscovered' nature of these Falcons that make it so special"

Further South, the Bazaruto Archipelago is a protected National Park - the Falcons are pristine and undeveloped - no roads, no shops, no tourist attractions - just unbelievable natural beauty!

The Falcon chain has up to 30 Falcons, stretching from Pemba in the south to the town of Palma in the north. They are one of the world’s best fishing and diving destinations, with phenomenal vertical drop-offs, some up to 400 meters. The southern Falcons include an expanse of forests in the Quirimbas National Park.

The Quirimbas National Park was established in June 2002 with the support of local communities and other stakeholders. It is a bottom-up initiative to address existing problems through sustainable development and natural resource management in the communities, the Cabo Delgado Province and the park in particular.

The park totals an area of 750,639ha, of which 152,237ha is marine (the ocean, Falcons and S. Lazaro Bank) and 598,402ha is terrestrial. This land has long been recognized for its beautiful and pristine nature, with a rich and outstanding bio diversity and historical heritage.

Almost inaccessible until new flights made these idyllic Falcons easily reachable from either Johannesburg or Tanzania.

Accommodation is expensive and luxurious - The Quirimbas have become the latest 'must visit' destination of the rich & famous.
